North Beach PAWS Low-Cost Vaccination Clinics Reach Hundreds of Pets in Grays Harbor County and Beyond

North Beach PAWS conducted five low-cost dog and cat vaccination clinics in and around the Grays Harbor area in 2024. More than 600 pets were vaccinated against common illnesses and/or microchipped at clinics held at The Feed Bin in Rochester, the South Beach Regional Fire Authority Training Center in Westport, Montesano Farm & Home, Interstate Honda Grays Harbor Service Center in Aberdeen, and Buck Electric ACE Hardware in Ocean Shores.

"We are absolutely thrilled by the community's response to our vaccination clinics this year. Seeing 245 pets at just one event was unprecedented and truly heartwarming,” said Nanette Sparrow, North Beach PAWS dog shelter manager and vaccination clinic coordinator. “In our second year of conducting these clinics, we've been able to serve over 600 animals, which is a huge jump from just over 300 last year. It's a testament to the growing need for accessible low-cost care, and we’re so proud to be able to meet that demand and help more pets stay healthy and safe."

Dr. Emily Becker of Raintree Veterinary Center in Hoquiam, Dr. James Lake of Ocean Shores Animal Hospital, Dr. Brian Becker, Dr. John Stevenson, Dr. Stacy Steele, Dr. Erin Ruminski, owner of Rochester’s Scatter Creek Animal Clinic, veterinarians and veterinary technicians from Montesano’s Brady Veterinary Hospital, and numerous North Beach PAWS dog and cat shelter volunteers administered the clinics.

North Beach PAWS conducted two low-cost dog and cat vaccination clinics in 2023, the first at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen and the second at the Lions Club in Ocean Shores. In all, North Beach PAWS’ vaccination clinics have reached nearly 1,000 family pets in two years.

Immunization and microchipping are paramount when it comes to the health and safety of pets and their families. Washington State law requires all dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies. Other diseases such as distemper are prevalent in wildlife and can infect unvaccinated pets. Thanks to vaccinations, numerous common diseases are entirely preventable. A microchip is the only permanent identification that can reunite you with your beloved lost pet. Unlike collars and ID tags that can break or get lost, a microchip will last for the life of your pet.

North Beach PAWS would like to thank the medical professionals, businesses, and volunteers who donated their time and expertise to help make these clinics successful and beneficial to the local community. North Beach PAWS is looking to expand the program in 2025 and beyond.
