Recently, North Beach PAWS conducted its fourth of five scheduled low-cost dog and cat vaccination clinics at Interstate Honda Authorized Service in Aberdeen with the help of Brady Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Emily Becker of Raintree Veterinary Center in Hoquiam, Dr. James Lake of Ocean Shores Animal Hospital, Dr. Brian Becker, and Dr. John Stevenson, and numerous volunteers. More than 140 animals were seen at this latest clinic.
North Beach PAWS held clinics in Rochester, Westport, and Montesano earlier this year. More than 360 dogs and cats have received core vaccinations and/or microchips at these clinics. North Beach PAWS held two such clinics in 2023 — Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen and the Ocean Shores Lions Club in Oceans Shores — where more than 300 animals received vaccinations and/or microchips. Core vaccines include rabies, DAPP, and Bordetella for dogs, and rabies and FVRCP for cats. North Beach PAWS also offers flea treatment for cats at these clinics. Vaccinations, microchips, and cat flea treatment are provided for $20 each.
Washington State law requires all dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies. Other diseases such as distemper are prevalent in wildlife and can infect unvaccinated pets. Thanks to vaccinations, numerous common diseases are entirely preventable. A microchip is the only permanent identification that can reunite you with your beloved lost pet. Unlike collars and ID tags that can break or get lost, a microchip will last for the life of your pet.
A fifth and final clinic for 2024 is set for Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Buck Electric ACE Hardware in Ocean Shores.
