North Beach PAWS Celebrates Community Support After Raising More Than $80,000 at this year’s Annual Dinner & Auction
Ocean Shores, Wash. — North Beach PAWS, a no-kill animal nonprofit shelter, is celebrating a tremendous show of community support following its Annual Dinner & Auction fundraising event, raising more than $80,000 to support homeless and abandoned cats and dogs in Grays Harbor County.

More than 200 community members, supporters, volunteers, and animal lovers came together for this year’s Annual Dinner & Auction, making the event a success and demonstrating the community’s continued commitment in supporting its local animal shelter.
A major highlight of the fundraising event was a $10,000 matching gift challenge for the much-needed new dog shelter project, sponsored by Pam Moon in memory of her late husband, Tim Moon. Thanks to the generosity of the community, North Beach PAWS successfully raised the full $10,000 match.
In addition, the organization also received an incredible $40,000 donation from a longtime North Beach PAWS supporter, providing a significant boost to the evening’s fundraising. Barb Sughrue has followed the progress of the new shelter build project and made her donation in memory of all the cats and dogs saved by North Beach PAWS. Barb, who rescued Doberman’s, said she hopes this donation from an ordinary person inspires others to do the same.
The new dog shelter will provide a modern, welcoming space designed to better meet the needs of dogs, volunteers, and adopters. The planned 3,700-square-foot facility will feature 20 modern kennels with non-opposing layouts to help reduce stress and noise, a large play yard for exercise and fresh air, separate intake and isolation areas for animal health, and dedicated adoption rooms where dogs and potential families can meet. The project represents an important investment in the future of animal care in the community and will help North Beach PAWS shelter and many more dogs for generations to come who come to us.
The funds raised will also help North Beach PAWS continue its mission of caring for animals at the shelter now, including veterinary care, food, enrichment, rehabilitation and adoption services.
“We receive inquiries every day from individuals who need to surrender their pets, often because of financial or personal hardships. During the summer months, we also see an increase in abandoned kittens and puppies, placing an even greater strain on local shelters,” said Carol Jamroz, President of North Beach PAWS.
“It is truly inspiring to see our community come together to support these animals. Every ticket purchased, donation made, auction item bid on, and hour volunteered, helps us continue our work of providing shelter, medical care, food and, most importantly, a second chance for vulnerable cats and dogs. The generosity and dedication of our supporters is uplifting. It is what allows us to keep doing this vital work.”
