North Beach PAWS Cat Shelter Needs Your Help

By Pam Moon North Beach PAWS Cat Shelter Manager

North Beach PAWS has been overwhelmed with the intake of cats and kittens this year. We have already cared for more than 800 cats and kittens in less than nine months, and there is no end in sight. Every day our intake coordinator is inundated with calls from people who need to relinquish a cat and/or kittens, or found abandoned cats and/or kittens, or have been turned away by other shelters.

We at the North Beach PAWS cat shelter pride ourselves on being able to accommodate almost every cat or kitten in need, but lately, we have had to put a lot of felines on a waiting list while taking in only the most desperate cases.

We have some empty condos to accommodate cats and kittens, however, we are in desperate need of volunteers to handle the daily workload. We have a dedicated team, but they can only do so much. Full capacity equals too much work for our current volunteer staff.

If you or someone you know can help at the shelter with cat care, even for just a couple hours per week or on a short-term basis, we and the cats would be extremely grateful.

We also need reliable foster homes, mostly for kitten groups. This commitment could be for a couple of weeks or longer, depending on the availability of the foster caregiver. North Beach PAWS provides all the supplies, food, medical care, etc. – the caregiver provides a safe, stable environment and lots of love.

If you already have a volunteer application on file, just let us know when you can help.

If you or someone you know want to help but have not completed an application or training, call our Volunteer Coordinator at 360-500-1292 or complete the online application that can be found at https://www.northbeachpaws.org/volunteer.
