Time is Running Out for Matching Donations!

Local Businessman and Animal Lover, Charlie Utterback has offered to donate up to $100,000 in matching funds to North Beach PAWS to assist with costs for needed building repairs, deferred Improvements and general expenses.  Thanks to our generous supporters we are about a third of the way to our goal!  Keep those donations coming!

Mr. Utterback has committed to match all donations from the public up to the end of June of this year.

North Beach PAWS needs this money badly as we have recently had to cancel our weekly Garage Sale due to the Corona-virus outbreak.  This event generates about $1,000 per week or $4,000 per month.

What a wonderful opportunity we now have to keep the Shelter financially solvent. Please look into your heart and donate what you can.  North Beach PAWS is a 100% Volunteer, No-Kill  Animal Shelter, so all of your donations are spent on the needs of our dogs and cats. North Beach PAWS is a Non-Profit Corporation registered with the State of Washington. As a 501©3 Corporation all donations are tax deductible.   Thank You For Your Generosity.

Meet Barney.  He recently arrived at North Beach PAWS from a colony in Aberdeen that neighbors had been feeding.  Barney had been born with a condition called “entropion”, where the eyelashes are rolled inward so that they are always rubbing against the eye.  Imagine having a bunch of hairs in your eyes 24/7!  The poor guy had been relying on his hearing and sense of smell to get through the world.  He was obviously in a lot of pain and the few times he would slightly open his eyes, they were a bloody red.  Dr. Steele looked him over and felt that the damage was not to the point where he would lose his eyes yet and surgery on his eyelids would have a good chance of correcting the issue.  The first picture shows him the day after surgery, already starting to open his eyes!  The second picture shows him after a week, much more comfortable with having his eyes open.  We are so glad we could relieve him of this suffering.

We used the shelter’s specialty care fund to pay for Barney’s surgery.  In order to replenish the fund so we can take care of the next cat or dog needing specialty care, please consider making a donation to NB PAWS. We are targeting $750, which will be doubled if donated before the end of June by our matching funds opportunity!
